The History of the Erie Funeral Home
Richard M. Schilling began the Schilling Funeral Home in Erie in 1946. His daughter, Mary Ellen, married Don Reedy, an Erie High School graduate, who bought the funeral home from her father in 1975. The name was changed to the Schilling-Reedy Funeral Home. In 1985, Leon Gibson, who owned the Dailey-Gibson Funeral Home in Port Byron, bought the funeral home in Erie. The business was renamed Gibson-Reedy Funeral Home. It was later consolidated with the Port Byron funeral home and both renamed Gibson Funeral Home. Chris Bode bought the business in 2009 and it became Gibson-Bode Funeral Home.
